Policy Makers Conference of the international DAAD Research Network "Migration - Trauma in Transition"

Field: Humanities and Social Sciences
Date: 1 December 2018
Location: Berllin
Organizer: DAAD Research Network "Migration, Trauma in Transition"

Presentation of the Policy Makers Conference of the international research network "Migration - Trauma in Transition".

If survivors from crisis areas in Europe seek protection, they will find people who feel their immediate need for help - but also others who are full of resentment, fears and doubts. Both optimistic compassion and timid avoidance are rooted in unconscious beliefs and expectations shaped by different national histories along the Balkan route and in the destination countries.

Since 2017, the international DAAD research network "Migration, Trauma in Transition" has been working on making the psychological expertise of scientists available for refugee aid. For this purpose, clinical and psychological trauma researchers work with experts from refugee work.

On 1 December 2018, the practical implementation of knowledge will be developed at a conference with political decision-makers from countries along the Balkan route at the IPU Berlin. The central component will be three parallel workshops on integration, education and mental health. The conference will issue recommendations for newly developed procedures and prepare them for online publication. At a public presentation following the workshops, the results of the research questions will be presented and discussed.
